No, the application won't work on Windows 10. The official website doesn't say anything about Windows 10, but it does mention Windows 8, which means you can try to run it in Compatibility mode.

Download page: http://esupport.sony.com/p/swu-download.pl?upd_id=5529#sysreq

Right-click the setup package and choose Properties > Compatibility, then select Windows 7 from the list and launch the software as Administrator. It might work this way without an upgrade for Windows 10.

I want to be able to save the Word document that I'm transcribing to without having the Digital Voice Editor File Counter reset to zero. Thoughts? I was able to fix this on my old computer but had to change to a new one. Now I can't remember what the fix was.

Since I don't have an IC recorded, I can't change the settings available within the application. However, I have looked through the HELP documentation and the software allows you to customize various aspects of the IC device when it's connected to PC. The Counter option is available through DISPLAY settings on your device and through the Settings menu in the application's Preferences.

Go to Help > English then switch to the Search field and type Counter. All topics will be listed on the left where word Counter is found.

I want to know if it is compatible with Linux.

R
回答者 Robert Polubinski

No, the application doesn't work in Linux because it's not compatible with. It was released for Windows operating systems, only. For more information about compatibility access the official website with the System Requirements. There were users who said the app lacks functionality even if it's launched under Wine (Windows emulator for Linux).

The compatibility of this application goes up to Windows XP only. You can try to run the application in compatibility mode by tweaking the compatibility settings when you right click the main executable.

Is there any version of the Sony Digital Voice Editor (possibly a free one) that is compatible with and safe to use on my computer? I have Windows 8, manufacturer installed.

R

No, there is no version released to support Windows 8. The latest version of Windows compatible with this application is Windows 7, however, you still have the possibility to attempt an installation from the main website. Download the product then right click it and select Properties > Compatibility. Select Windows 7 from the list then attempt an installation. It should work this way.

I have a ICD-P630 and Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I've downloaded the voice editor program, but I can't see my recorded files. Why is this happening?

If you installed the program and can't see the content of your device, you need to make sure that the connection between the recorder and PC is established correctly. For this, open the program, go under IC Recorder > Select IC Recorder. A list will be provided with compatible models. From there choose your device and press OK. Before you do this, connect the recorder to PC. If the connection is established, the files from recorder should appear on the left side of the window. For additional support, check the help menu.

No, the software works just fine in Windows 7 64bit. It has problems with Windows XP 64bit. It's not recommended to be used in that OS version. However, if you encounter issues in Windows 7, make sure to download the update released by Sony. Apply the update to your current installation.

Note: The update applies to certified models only. You can check this information on the same page.

There is no need to purchase another program. Download and install the application and then you will be able to convert the IC (recorder files) into MP3 file format. This is a standard feature provided by this application. You might need to transfer the .ic files to your computer before doing the conversion. Alternatively, update the application to benefit from this feature because it's possible that you're using an outdated version of the software which lacks this feature.
